Our Leinster Ladies Gaelic Football Association neighbours Laois LGFA are being honoured today in Croke Park to mark the 25th Anniversary of their famous win over Mayo in the 2001 All-Ireland Final.
2026 also marks the 25th Anniversary of Kildare’s very first LGFA All-Star. In 2001, Brianne Leahy of Grangenolvin picked up the award for the left-half forward position.
Even more inspiring, Brianne earned the award while Kildare competed in the Junior tier confirming her status as one of the best footballers in the country at all levels.
Brianne would lead Kildare to their first All-Ireland title in 2004 and another All-Star in 2007 cementing her legacy in Lilywhite history.
